Foundations in Self-Defense is a self-paced online course taught by Lisa Davis, a U.S. Marine veteran, former Peace Officer, and 5th-degree black belt with over 40 years of martial arts experience. The course runs over 2 hours and covers fighting stances, striking techniques, escape moves for wrist grabs, choke holds, and shirt grabs, situational awareness, carjacking prevention, recognition of human trafficking warning signs and grooming tactics, and scenario-based self-defense practice. Lisa Davis, founder of Power Up with Lisa and creator of the Recognize Assess Take-Action® model, is dedicated to empowering people to live with confidence and awareness.


With over 40 years of martial arts experience, a 5th-degree black belt, and a background as a U.S. Marine and Peace Officer -- recognized by the International Association of Women Police as Officer of the Year (2007) -- she brings unmatched expertise and a down-to-earth teaching style that makes learning self-defense feel motivating, not intimidating.
